Peckforton Castle Wedding Photography
Peckforton Castle is one of Cheshire's most distinctive wedding venues. It's dramatic without needing much help from a photographer — the stone architecture, woodland, grounds and darker interiors give you completely different possibilities throughout the day.
I've photographed weddings at Peckforton Castle numerous times over the years and know the venue well. It's somewhere that suits the way I like to work particularly well: plenty of opportunities to photograph the day as it happens, but also an incredible backdrop when we want to spend a little time creating something more dramatic.
Brett & Shayna's Peckforton Castle Wedding
Brett and Shayna travelled from Boston in the USA for their wedding at Peckforton Castle, bringing their family and friends together for a brilliant celebration in Cheshire.
Their wedding had a bit of everything. Plenty happening naturally throughout the day, a great atmosphere with their guests and time for us to head outside and make use of the castle and surrounding woodland.
Peckforton gives us a huge amount of variety without disappearing for hours to take photographs. We can create something striking against the castle walls, head into the woodland for a completely different feel, and then get you back to your guests.
For me, that's the balance.
You should be able to enjoy your wedding rather than feel as though you're spending the day on a photoshoot. But when you've chosen somewhere as spectacular as Peckforton Castle, it would be a shame not to make the most of it.
Photographing a Wedding at Peckforton Castle
One of the things I particularly like about photographing weddings here is how much the character of the venue changes as you move around it.
Outside you've got the scale and architecture of the castle itself, along with the surrounding Cheshire countryside and woodland. Inside, the stonework, darker rooms and atmospheric light give photographs a completely different look.
And when the light changes later in the day, there are opportunities to create some of the more dramatic evening portraits that have become some of my favourite photographs from weddings here.
I don't work from a fixed list of photographs that I repeat at every Peckforton wedding. The weather, light, season and — most importantly — the couple are different every time.
Knowing the venue simply means I know what's possible and where to look when the opportunity presents itself.
What our couple said about their Peckforton Castle wedding photography
