A Stylish Country House Wedding in Gloucestershire

Modern country-house romance. A little editorial, a lot of personality.

There's something special about a wedding that combines beautiful surroundings with a couple who aren't afraid to bring their own personality to the day. Shauna and Mark's wedding at Eastington Park in Gloucestershire was exactly that.

Set within eight acres of countryside, this elegant Georgian country house offers a wonderful combination of historic architecture, sweeping gardens and stylish interiors. For a wedding photographer, it's a venue full of possibilities.

Shauna and Mark's photographs brought together relaxed, candid moments with something a little more contemporary. From the character of the house to their striking couple portraits, the result was a collection of images that felt stylish, personal and full of life.

GETTING MARRIED AT EASTINGTON PARK?

Shauna & Mark's Church Wedding at St Michael and All Angels, Eastington

Just a short walk from Eastington Park, the beautiful St Michael and All Angels Church provided the setting for Shauna and Mark's wedding ceremony.

With its historic stone architecture, warm interior and traditional village-church atmosphere, it was a lovely place for them to exchange their vows surrounded by family and friends.

There were some wonderful moments throughout the ceremony, from the smiles they shared to a particularly memorable kiss that had everyone enjoying the moment.

Outside, the celebrations continued with a shower of white confetti, plenty of laughter and another playful dip from Mark - perfectly capturing the couple's personalities.

These are the moments I love photographing. Genuine emotion, a little spontaneity and photographs that bring the whole experience back to life.

From the church, the celebrations moved on to Eastington Park for the rest of their wedding day.

WeddingS at Eastington Park, Gloucestershire

Eastington Park has that rare quality of feeling both grand and welcoming. The Grade II-listed Georgian house is full of character, with elegant rooms, beautiful architectural details and a magnificent staircase that immediately catches your eye.

Outside, the gardens offer a completely different atmosphere. Open lawns, mature trees and the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside provide plenty of opportunities for relaxed portraits away from the busier parts of the celebrations.

What I particularly enjoyed about photographing Shauna and Mark was the opportunity to combine those different settings and styles. Some photographs were about the architecture and composition, while others were simply about capturing their personalities and the connection between them.

That's what makes a wedding gallery interesting to me. Not every photograph needs to look or feel the same.

Modern Editorial Wedding Photography at Eastington Park

Shauna and Mark's portraits were a chance to introduce a slightly more editorial feel to their wedding photography.

Eastington Park lends itself beautifully to this approach. The symmetry of the architecture, the elegant interiors and the contrast between the formal house and relaxed gardens create opportunities for photographs that feel sophisticated without becoming overly serious.

The grand staircase is particularly impressive. Its sweeping shape and architectural detail make it one of the most distinctive photography locations at Eastington Park.

For Shauna and Mark, it provided an opportunity to create portraits with a stronger sense of composition, using the lines and curves of the staircase to frame the photographs.

I also love the contrast between these more considered images and the spontaneous moments that happen throughout a wedding. Both have their place, and together they tell a much more complete story.

Relaxed Moments, Real Personality

While I enjoy creating editorial-style portraits, some of my favourite wedding photographs are often the moments that happen without any direction at all.

A shared laugh, an unexpected expression, a fleeting interaction between friends or family. They're the moments that give a wedding its personality and become even more meaningful with time.

With Shauna and Mark, I wanted the photography to have that balance. Beautiful portraits were important, but so was preserving the atmosphere of the day and allowing the photographs to reflect who they are.

It's an approach that works particularly well at a venue like Eastington Park, where the house and gardens provide such a beautiful setting without needing to dominate every photograph.

The Best Wedding Photography Locations at Eastington Park

One of the reasons Eastington Park is such an appealing Gloucestershire wedding venue is the variety of photography locations available within the estate.

The Grand Staircase

Perhaps the most recognisable feature of the house, the sweeping staircase is ideal for elegant bridal portraits and more contemporary editorial photographs.

Its curved lines create a natural frame, while the height and architectural detail allow for some interesting compositions.

The Gardens and Grounds

With eight acres of gardens, Eastington Park offers plenty of space for outdoor wedding portraits. The lawns, mature trees and surrounding greenery provide a softer contrast to the formal interiors of the house.

For couples who prefer relaxed photographs, these outdoor spaces are particularly useful.

The Georgian House

The exterior of Eastington Park makes a beautiful backdrop for classic country-house wedding photographs.

The building's symmetry and period architecture lend themselves to both traditional compositions and more modern, fashion-inspired portraits.

The Walled Garden and Pergola

The estate's walled garden and outdoor ceremony pergola add further variety. They're lovely settings for romantic portraits and wider photographs that capture the atmosphere of the venue.

Why Eastington Park Is a Beautiful Gloucestershire Wedding Venue

Located near Stonehouse and Stroud, between Bristol and Cheltenham, Eastington Park is an exclusive-use wedding venue offering the privacy of a country estate with the convenience of on-site accommodation.

The venue has 33 bedrooms, a beautiful ballroom and options for indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies.

For couples planning their wedding, one of its biggest advantages is having so much in one location. Preparations, ceremonies, celebrations and overnight accommodation can all be part of the same experience.

From a photography perspective, this also means there's plenty of variety without having to travel between different locations.

The house offers elegance and architectural interest, while the gardens provide space, greenery and a more relaxed atmosphere.

It's a combination that works beautifully for couples who want wedding photographs with both a timeless quality and a modern edge.

My Approach to Photographing Weddings at Eastington Park

For me, wedding photography is about finding the right balance between observing what's happening and knowing when a little direction can make a difference.

Throughout most of the day, I prefer to let things unfold. The conversations, laughter, celebrations and smaller moments all deserve to be photographed as they happen.

When it comes to couple portraits, I take a slightly different approach.

I'll look for the best light, backgrounds and compositions, offering direction where it's useful while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable.

At Eastington Park, the variety of locations makes it possible to create several different looks without spending too much time away from your guests.

The aim is simple: photographs that look beautiful, feel like you and bring back the atmosphere of your wedding for years to come.
