Tom and Emma chose Gisburne Park Estate for a relaxed outdoor celebration surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Their blessing took place outdoors beneath a tipi, surrounded by woodland and the natural beauty of the estate. It immediately set the tone for the rest of the wedding: informal, personal and full of atmosphere.

Rather than constantly stopping proceedings for photographs, I documented the day as it unfolded — the reactions during the ceremony, hugs afterwards, conversations between guests, laughter during the speeches and the energy of the evening celebrations.

These unscripted moments are often the photographs that become most valuable.

The location is one of the things that makes Gisburne Park Estate particularly special for photography.

With extensive countryside and woodland surrounding the wedding celebrations, there are plenty of opportunities for beautiful couple portraits without disappearing for a long photoshoot.

I prefer to keep portraits relaxed and relatively quick. I'll give you simple prompts and gentle direction rather than asking you to hold awkward poses. That allows us to create polished, editorial photographs while keeping everything feeling natural.

And because we're not tied to one long portrait session, we can make use of the best light and weather throughout the day.

TIPI WEDDINGS AT GISBURNE PARK ESTATE

Tom and Emma's tipi reception brought everyone together in a completely different atmosphere after the outdoor ceremony.

The rustic styling worked beautifully with the surrounding countryside, while the open and informal nature of the celebration created plenty of opportunities for documentary photography.

From emotional speeches and huge reactions to the first dance and packed dance floor, I could concentrate on what was actually happening rather than manufacturing moments for the camera.

That's exactly how I want a wedding gallery to feel: real people, real emotion and photographs that take you straight back to the day.

WHAT IF IT RAINS AT GISBURNE PARK?

An outdoor wedding doesn't require perfect weather to produce beautiful photographs.

The Ribble Valley can give us everything from sunshine to dramatic skies and rain, sometimes within the same wedding. Rather than letting the forecast dictate the photography, I work around whatever the day gives us.

If there's a break in the weather, we'll use it. If the light becomes beautiful later in the evening, we can head outside for ten minutes. And if it rains, we'll adapt.

Some of the most atmospheric wedding photographs happen when conditions aren't perfect.
